On Wednesday, April 21, the Honorable John D. Napper of the Yavapai County Superior Court sentenced 26-year-old Briar Lynn Aven of Prescott to 38 years in prison for murdering her grandmother amid a scheme to illegally and fraudulently profit from her money and property.
A Prescott woman has pleaded guilty to helping her daughter hide the murder of their family matriarch and profit from the deceased’s estate using a number of fraudulent methods.
Autopsy results have positively identified Sandra Aven, 77, as the victim in the Prescott murder case that came to light April 9. Her cause of death has also been confirmed as blunt force trauma that took place more than a year earlier than previously thought, according to officials.
