The original concept of public education, dating back to 1635, was to develop a way to educate children and prepare them to become productive members of society.
For the Humboldt Unified School District, this holiday season and the holiday break provide a time to reflect back on the fall semester and look ahead to the upcoming spring semester.
The exchange between Alice and the Cheshire Cat in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland sums up Arizona’s K-12 education policy for the past several years, “If you don’t know where you are going any road can take you there.”
As we return from another July 4 celebration, school districts across the state now turn their full attention to the upcoming school year. This time of year marks the formal start of our new fiscal year. In fact, this week the Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) will be approving its official budget for the 2019-2020 school year.
It’s hard to believe that we have wrapped up another school year. On May 23 we celebrated the graduation of 334 seniors. Our teachers and staff came together to witness the culmination of their guidance, their leadership, and their dedication to our students. Our parents celebrated the journey that they have shared with their children.
The restlessness of spring fever is upon us as we are beginning to see glimpses of warmer weather, our days are getting longer, and of course, for our schools, it is standardized testing time.
