This is the day for picnics and entertainment events. (We’d say fireworks, but we will get to that later.)

The front page of our June 1, 2018 edition of The Daily Courier — and the dCourier.com website — we carried news of officials putting into effect a partial closure of the Prescott National Forest.

I consider myself patriotic like many folks in the Quad-Cities, and this time of year offers a feast with fireworks on top.

A 12-year tradition will come to an end in Prescott this summer, when the annual July 4 celebration will move from Pioneer Park to downtown Prescott.
