Mayer Fire crews assisted Black Canyon and Daisy Mountain Fire on two simultaneous fires Sunday near Sunset Point. Black Canyon Fire Chief Tom Birch said the fires started at about 10 a.m., one at milepost 249 and one at mp 250.5. The fire at mp 249 burned into a canyon before the winds blew it up the mountain, Birch said. Because of the location, Bureau of Land Management crews took over that fire, which burned about 20 acres.
