My kids both have cell phones, and surprisingly enough they don't use them as phones at least 50 percent of the time. They use them as cameras and typewriters. I have observed them whipping out their phones, thumbing the buttons, clapping them shut and putting them back into a pocket or purse, all the while never losing their place in an ongoing conversation.
