The Hubble space telescope captured this image of galaxies trapped in orbit around each other. Billions of years from now, they will merge into a single massive galaxy. Scientists believe the Milky Way formed from such collisions, and it will collide with the Andromeda Galaxy in several billion years.

Now that the prospect of clear skies is returning, the Prescott Astronomy Club is returning to its "Starry Nights" and "Third Thursday" series on Sept. 15 and 20. The first will be the continuation of the "Starry Nights at Watson Lake" series at 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Watson Lake Park's upper gazebo.
