Advisory committee recommends shots only for those 65 and older or high risk

Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a plan in August to begin offering COVID-19 vaccine booster shots this fall, but the CDC’s independent advisory committee, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) overwhelmingly rejected a plan Friday to give Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots across the board, and instead endorsed the extra vaccine dose only for those who are 65 or older or run a high risk of severe disease.
