As robust and experienced of a program Chino Valley wrestling is, its toughest opponents may not be against those from another school, but against the masks the wrestlers will have to wear on their faces all season.

Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce Director Lorette Brashear was finally ready to “let the cat out of the bag,” as she described it, and reveal to the community a secret she’s been keeping to herself since September of last year. So far, the community has donated about $19,000 and CVPD only needs $5,000 to outfit all 28 of its officers with life-saving rifle-rated ballistic plates and helmets. The Chino Valley Town Council’s agenda featured a hefty list of actions items for its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 12, but it breezed through and approved most of them, including the Assured Water Supply Credit Purchase Agreement with Laverne D. and Linda R. Wallace Trust group, which will improve the town’s water portfolio.

After much discussion and review during a meeting on Monday, Jan. 11, the Chino Valley Unified School District Governing Board unanimously voted to switch to hybrid learning for preschool to fifth-grade students beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, while sixth-grade through high school students will stay under a distance-learning model.

At approximately 7:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, Chino Valley Police Department (CVPD) officers responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 89 and Jack Dale Drive, according to a news release.
