Study: Phoenix faces health crisis if heatwave, blackout hit at same time
High temperatures are nothing new to Valley residents, but a recent study said that if a heatwave coincided with a multiday power outage, the results would be disastrous. But power company officials say a long-term power outage is unlikely, noting that they plan for 117-degree temperatures in the Valley, then add a buffer on top of that.
