The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is reminding the community to be aware of scam calls that may be received. A citizen recently reported that she received a phone call from “Sgt. Michael Lewis with YCSO”, which included a fabricated badge number, regarding a warrant and seeking money.

Fortunately, after asking a few questions, the citizen determined that this was a fictitious caller. YCSO wants to remind everyone that we will never call regarding warrants or seeking funds to take care of warrants.

YCSO is committed to keeping the community safe and informed about potential scams. You can always call the YCSO non-emergency line to verify deputy names and badge numbers at 928-771-3260. If you receive any suspicious calls, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately. For more local scam and fraud information visit ycsoaz.gov.
