Obituary: Christine Sutley Welker
Christine Sutley Welker, of Chino Valley passed away on February 26, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born April 6, 1943, to Myles Sutley & Eleanor Woodruff Sutley, in Bradford, Pennsylvania.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Vearl “Bud” Welker; sister, Ruth Anne Sutley; brother, Bruce Sutley; grandson, Travis Mcelmurry; and Granddaughter in-law Tiffany Ward. Christine is survived by children Brett Welker (Leila) of Paulden, Susan Welker, Leslie Ward (Scott), Laura DeLaHuerta (Rick), and Beth Federico (Doug) of Chino Valley; eight granddaughters, nine grandsons; 15 great grandsons and six great granddaughters.
Christine’s family moved to Arizona in the summer of 1945 and settled in Prescott where she grew up and attended school. Christine married Bud Welker in June of 1960 and eventually settled in Chino Valley where they lived for most of their 58 years of marriage.
Christine enjoyed learning and attended Yavapai College for several years. Her high marks earned her an induction into the Phi Theta Kappa Society. In her life she worked retail and was a contract mail carrier for 13 years for the Chino Valley Postal Service until she retired in 2014.
She had a lifelong love of reading, was an avid genealogist with a passion for family history. She volunteered at the LDS church genealogy library for many years
Christine was laid to rest with her husband Bud Welker in the Chino Valley Cemetery.
