Prescott Veterans Day Parade winners announced

Parade entries in seven categories, along with a “Best Overall,” won awards in the Thursday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day Parade in downtown Prescott.

A news release from the City of Prescott reported that the parade, which had a theme of “Honoring World War II Veterans: A Grateful Nation Salutes the Greatest Generation” had 110 parade entries.

“Awards were given to the best entry in seven categories: ‘Commercial,’ ‘Fraternal Organization,’ ‘Hospital,’ ‘Marching Unit,’ ‘Motorized Group,’ ‘Music’ and ‘Non-Profit,’ as well as the APS Sponsor award for ‘Best Overall,’” stated the press release.

The winning entries were:

• First Place, Non-Profit Organization - Northern AZ Nurse Honor Guard.

• First Place, Fraternal /Military Organization - Marine Corps League/Young Marines.

• First Place, Motorized Group - Antique Auto Club.

• First Place, Music Entry - Polynesian Siva.

• First Place, Marching Unit - Prescott High School Air Force JROTC.

• First Place, Hospital Entries by Veterans - Northern AZ Health Care System.

• First Place, Commercial/ Business Entry- Yavapai Travel Adventures.

• Best Overall/APS Title Sponsor Award - Detachment 028 Air Force ROTC.

“The City of Prescott would like to thank all those who participated as well as the community partners that helped to sponsor this year’s parade, including Arizona Public Service (APS), Foothills Bank, and Northern Arizona VA,” the news release added.
