Obituary: Mr. Billy Murl West
Mr. Billy Murl West was born April 13, 1933, in Erick, Oklahoma, to Charley H. West and Ina E. West. He was the brother of 13 siblings, eight brothers and five sisters.
In 1952, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Smith of McClean, Texas. In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Army and was deployed overseas to Korea, where he spent three years. He then came home to his beautiful wife and son, Lonnie. In 1957, they had a daughter, Brenda, and in 1963 another daughter, Teresa.
He then packed up his family and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he found work at Southern Union Gas Company in 1964 and retired 33 years later as Distribution Superintendent in Prescott Valley. In 1974, they had another son (deceased). In 1976, a daughter, Dori.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine West of Prescott Valley; children, Lonnie (Barbara) West of Bellemont, Arizona, Brenda (Dwight) Durham of Sanger, Texas, Teresa (Harold) Alexander of Flagstaff, Arizona, Dori West (Brad) of Prescott Valley; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services, with full Military Honors, will be held at Bradshaw Chapel, 8480 E. Valley Road in Prescott Valley, Arizona, on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Masks required.
A private burial will be held in Bellemont, Arizona, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
