Prep Girls Basketball

FLAGSTAFF — Hollie Dalton recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Prescott girls basketball team lost 42-29 to Grand Canyon region rival Coconino on Monday night.
It is the second straight loss for the Badgers (3-3, 2-3 Grand Canyon), which started the season 3-1 including victories over Mohave (42-34), Cactus (57-28) and Mingus (39-33).
“We started a little slow in the first period and had eight turnovers,” Prescott head coach Bobbi Yoder said via email Tuesday.
The eight turnovers led to a 13-point deficit as the Badgers trailed 17-4 heading into the second quarter and couldn’t overcome.
“We will learn from this loss and try to fix our mistakes and come out ready to go Wednesday night,” Yoder said.
