Prescott Area Shelter Services will this year be having its 11th annual fundraising tea as a virtual event between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. April 24.
The virtual tea will incorporate tours of the shelter facility as well as talks from guests about the impact this transitional shelter for women and children has had on their lives. The shelter last year expanded in its downtown Prescott facility to accommodate up to seven mothers with boys 12 and older.
The 19-bed, 90-day-stay shelter, that first opened in 2007, provides opportunities for its clients to overcome the challenges of poverty and homelessness through case management, connection to resources and a warm, safe place to stay as they seek their own path forward.
Since opening its doors, PASS has served more than 2,700 homeless women and children and provided some 63,000 bed nights. The transition rate from homelessness to permanent housing — and the PASS shelter now also has some longer-term transitional housing for its clients — 87%. The shelter offers homeless transition incentives that include rental and deposit assistance, as well as transitional housing opportunities for shelter graduates that can last from six months up to two years with case management supports.
Registration for the event is underway and can be made with the link https://my.simplegive.com/App/Form/ec3c4f89-b7ee-449d-bbc5-b8d79c2f6caa. For additional information or to volunteer, people can also call the shelter at 928-778-5933.
