Cougars can’t stay with Phoenix Christian in 50-20 rout

Phoenix Christian dominated host Chino Valley in 3A West region football action on Friday night, Oct. 30, cruising to a 50-20 victory to remain atop the league standings.
Chino Valley lost its second straight game in region play, dropping below .500 at 2-3 and 1-2 in the West. Phoenix Christian improved to 3-2 and stayed unbeaten in region at 3-0.
Chino Valley had won two of its first three games this season before hitting a wall in a 42-20 loss at region foe Wickenburg Oct. 23. The Cougars have now been outscored 92-40 in their last two contests.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) will release its first 3A power-point rankings of the coronavirus-shortened 2020 season at noon Tuesday, Nov. 3, at: azpreps365.com/rankings/football/3a.

Phoenix Christian plays host to fellow undefeated region foe Wickenburg (4-1, 2-0 West) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. That game will likely determine the 3A West region champion.
Chino Valley won’t play on Nov. 6 after its non-region home matchup versus Dysart was cancelled. The Cougars will face Bourgade Catholic (3-2, 0-2 West) in Chino Valley at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in their regular-season finale.
Wickenburg beat Bourgade Catholic, 32-14, Oct. 30 in Phoenix.
