Obituary: Dr. Edward Louis Ritter
Dr. Edward Louis Ritter died peacefully at home in Scottsdale, Arizona, shortly after his 89th birthday. Born on March 15, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ed was the oldest of three siblings. He attended University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, where he met his wife, Carolyn, and graduated in 1957.
After residency in service with the United States Air Force, he and Carolyn settled in Prescott, Arizona, because “you couldn’t find a prettier place to live.” Ed enjoyed an active life dedicated to his family and community and enjoyed fly fishing and tennis. Beloved brother, husband, father, friend and physician, Ed’s legacy of love and service is fondly remembered by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sister, Elaine Jordan; children, Debra Weller, Cynthia Weissmueller and Douglas Ritter; three grandchildren, Sole, Whitney, Jason; and many nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held in the forest near Prescott. Donations may be made to the Class of 1957 University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine scholarship fund.
