Chino Valley in Brief: MVD urges patience; new pastor at Methodist Church

Despite retiring in Chino Valley with his wife four years ago, Bob Gilfert was asked by the bishop of the United Methodist Church to be the interim pastor for the Kingman’s St. John’s United Methodist Church in 2018. However, after 22 months of being the interim pastor, Gilfert was coaxed out of retirement by the bishop once again and was offered to be the pastor at Chino Valley United Methodist Church. Gilfert ultimately accepted and will now be conducting his first service on Wednesday, July 1. (Bob Gilfert/Courtesy)
