Roadwork in Brief: Zone 16 Project; Corsair Avenue Extension; Cliff Rose Water Main; Robinson Drive Reconstruction; Summit, McCormick, Beach and Goodwin; Wilkinson Drive; Hope Street improvements

Zone 16 Tank, Pump Station and Water Main Project

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on the second phase of the Zone 16 Tank, Pump Station & Water Main Project. Phase 2 consists of constructing the new Virginia Street pump station and Zone 16 water tank. With the new pump station fully constructed and operational, crews will be removing and replacing the existing Zone 16 water tank and access road. Tank construction is scheduled to be complete in summer 2020, with the resurfacing of Valley Ranch Circle, from Haisley Road to Range Road, to follow.

ZONE 16 — Construction of the new Zone 16 water tank structure is now complete. With this work finished, crews will be installing the electrical and mechanical components in the new tank over the next two weeks.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-26, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to the area around the Zone 16 water tank, including the dirt road off Range Road, will be restricted while this work is underway. Residents and trail users are asked to respect the posted restricted work zone signage and not enter the restricted construction site area.

VIRGINIA STREET — Crews will continue performing miscellaneous construction activities in the vicinity of the new Virginia Street Pump Station over the next two weeks.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-26, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Large trucks and heavy equipment will be accessing the project site at the south end of Virginia Street. Access to Acker Park will not be affected while work is underway.

Corsair Avenue Extension

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on a roadway extension project. The project consists of constructing a new roadway connection between the existing southern terminus of Corsair Avenue to an intersection with Wilkinson Drive. The intersection of Wilkinson Drive and Corsair Avenue will feature a single lane roundabout to accommodate for peak traffic flows. The new extension of Corsair Avenue will include two paved travel lanes complete with a paved center median and new curb and gutter. In addition to this work, the project includes both drainage and utility improvements. The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2020.

GRADING OPERATIONS — While third-party utility adjustments are being performed, crews will continue performing grading operations along Corsair Avenue, just south of Avenger Road. This work is in preparation of new roadway construction and utility installation.

Cliff Rose Water Main

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on a water main replacement project. The project includes installation of new water main and services along Boardwalk Avenue, from Rosser Street to Marvin Gardens Lane, and along Marvin Gardens Lane, from Boardwalk Avenue to Oriental Avenue (cul-de-sac included). Additional work includes asphalt pavement patching and the removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, as needed, along the project corridor. The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2020.

FIRST PHASE — Commissioning of the newly installed water main along Marvin Gardens Lane is now complete. With this work finished, crews will be testing the water main and connecting water services throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Marvin Gardens Lane will be closed to through traffic while this work is underway. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.

PARKING AND ACCESS — To minimize conflicts with construction equipment, and expedite completion of the project, the city asks that you avoid on-street parking while construction is underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access throughout the work zones.

Robinson Drive Reconstruction

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on the second phase of the Robinson Drive Reconstruction Project. The second phase of the project consists of full road removal and replacement of Robinson Drive, from Overstreet Drive to the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East. Additional work includes the installation of new storm drain along Hillcrest Lane, replacement of aged water and sewer lines, drainage improvements, and installation of concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter as needed along the project corridor. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2020.

STORM DRAIN — Crews will continue installing storm drain along Robinson Drive, between Newport Drive and the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East, throughout the week. In addition to this work, testing of the newly installed water main will begin.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between Newport Drive and the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour and please be aware of reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

ROAD RECONSTRUCTION — Crews will continue excavating the roadway, performing grading activities and preparing the subgrade and base course along Robinson Drive, between Newport Drive and the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East, in preparation of asphalt paving operations.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between Overstreet Drive and Newport Drive. Motorists are asked to follow the marked detour and please be aware of reduced speeds, flaggers, and heavy equipment accessing the work zone.

CONCRETE INSTALLATION — Crews will continue installing catch basins and constructing new retaining walls along the project corridor throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between Newport Drive and the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East.

Summit, McCormick, Beach and Goodwin Pavement and Utilities

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on a pavement and utility upgrade project along Summit Avenue, Beach Avenue, South McCormick Street, and West Goodwin Street. The project consists of the replacement of various water lines, sewer lines, and storm drain pipe. Additional improvements include the installation of new catch basins, driveway entrances, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and asphalt reconstruction. The project is scheduled to be complete by summer 2020.

ASPHALT PAVING — Starting Wednesday, crews will be installing both lifts of asphalt pavement along South Summit Avenue, from West Gurley Street to West Goodwin Street. Following paving operations along South Summit Avenue, crews will be installing the final lift of asphalt pavement along Beach Avenue, from South Summit Avenue to South McCormick Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Wednesday through Friday, June 17-19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. South Summit Avenue and Beach Avenue will be closed to through traffic while asphalt paving operations are underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access.

LANDSCAPING — The installation of landscape plantings will begin along all work zones throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

STORM DRAIN — Crews have finished reconfiguring the storm drain system at the intersection of West Gurley Street and South McCormick Street. With this work complete, crews will be installing concrete sidewalk, and curb and gutter in the intersection. In addition to this work, crews will begin preparing the intersection for asphalt paving operations.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Turning movements onto South McCormick Street via West Gurley Street will be restricted while work is underway. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, crosswalk closures, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

ROAD RECONSTRUCTION — Crews will continue performing grading operations and preparing the subgrade and base course in advance of asphalt paving operations along South Summit Avenue, from West Goodwin Street to West Gurley Street, and along West Goodwin Street, from South McCormick Street to South Summit Avenue.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

CONCRETE WORK — Crews will be installing concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter along West Goodwin Street, from South Summit Avenue and South McCormick Street, throughout the week.

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are working on a pavement improvement project. The project consists of the removal and replacement of asphalt pavement along Larry Caldwell Drive and Wilkinson Drive, as shown in the map below. Additional work includes drainage improvements, shoulder work, ditch grading, and new traffic signage and striping along the project corridor. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2020.

ASPHALT PAVING — On Saturday, crews will be performing the first phase of asphalt paving operations along the work zone highlighted in the map below.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Saturday, June 13, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be aware of lane closures, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.

ASPHALT PAVING — On Saturday, crews will be performing the final phase of asphalt paving operations along the work zone highlighted in the map below.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Saturday, June 20, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be aware of lane closures, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.

PAVING PREPARATION — Crews will continue preparing the roadway in advance of asphalt paving operations.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, June 15-19. To minimize the impact to Airport Business Park traffic, work will occur throughout all hours of the day with limited construction activities during peak traffic hours. Please be aware of lane closures, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, and flagging operations throughout the work zones.

Hope Street Improvement Project

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., have reached substantial completion of the Hope Street Improvement Project. Project improvements included the replacement of approximately 1,150 linear feet of water main, and sewer main repairs where necessary. Additional work included the installation of drainage improvements, asphalt pavement, and curb and valley gutters along Hope Street and Warne Street. These upgrades have successfully enhanced the drainage capabilities in the vicinity and upgraded the utilities that serve the local community. Please remain alert as crews will continue adjusting utilities, raising manhole covers to finished road grade, and performing grading operations in parkways along Hope Street and Warne Street throughout the week.
