Updated as of Monday, July 20, 2020 3:22 PM
Leslie “Jigger” Stonehart III passed away in his home on June 26, 2020, at the age of 75. He was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Santa Maria, California, to Leslie II and Beatrice Stonehart. They, as well as his brother Jim, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Therese Stonehart; and his daughter, Michelle Salas; and grandson, Jacob Salas.
Although he spent his adult life in a wheelchair due to a 1978 auto accident, he lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing and even New Mexico river rafting. His passion was music drawing him to concerts and restaurants with bands. In 1978, he awoke from a coma singing Neil Diamond music and passed away while listening to Neil’s music. Surely he will be requesting Neil’s songs in heaven.
Jigger will be remembered for his laugh, anecdotes, love of family and friends and special celebrations. He met his disability with immense courage and resilience. He so loved his wife of 42 years and will be truly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. Final resting arrangements are being completed through ABC Funeral Home.
