ADOT: Lane restrictions, full closures coming for I-17 beginning Jan. 19

The Arizona Department of Transportation advised drivers who are planning to use Interstate 17 in north Phoenix to be aware of overnight lane restrictions and full closures near Pinnacle Peak Road beginning next week, according to an ADOT release.

Motorists should slow down and be prepared to merge into open travel lanes while the following restrictions are in place:

--Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Rose Garden Lane from 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, to 12:01 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20.

The full closures of I-17 and Pinnacle Peak Road are from Jan. 24 to Jan. 26. Crews are scheduled to set the girders on the second new Pinnacle Peak Road bridge as the interchange reconstruction project continues.

Other restrictions are as follows:

--Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Happy Valley Road from 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, and from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21. Also: Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes in the same location at the same time.

--Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane and northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes at Happy Valley Road from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22.

--Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Happy Valley Road from 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23.

--Pinnacle Peak Road will be reduced to one lane only at the I-17 bridge, and flaggers will alternate drivers through the open lane, from 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, to 4 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 and from 11 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24. Drivers should slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

--Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane, and northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes at Happy Valley Road, from 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, to 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24.

--Southbound I-17 will be closed at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. The ramps at I-17 will remain open. Drivers can use the off- and on-ramps to exit and reenter the highway or use southbound 19th Avenue between Jomax and Deer Valley roads as an alternate. Also: East and westbound Pinnacle Peak Road will be closed at I-17 while crews place girders for the second new bridge. Drivers can use Deer Valley or Happy Valley roads as detours.

--Northbound I-17 will be closed at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26. The ramps at I-17 will remain open. Drivers can use the off- and on-ramps to exit and reenter the highway or use northbound 19th Avenue between Deer Valley and Jomax roads as an alternate. Also: East and westbound Pinnacle Peak Road will be closed at I-17 while crews place girders for the second new bridge. Drivers can use Deer Valley or Happy Valley roads as detours.
