A 27-year-old man from Prescott was arrested for alleged indecent exposure after he was reportedly seen naked wearing only socks, shoes and a backpack by a woman hiking the Constellation Trailhead near Phippen Museum, according to a news release Saturday.

Dustin Luckenbill was booked into the Yavapai County jail in Camp Verde on two counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure. He was released Friday, Aug. 14, with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

YCSO and local law enforcement agencies are looking into the possibility of more cases involving the suspect, spokesperson Dwight D’Evelyn said Saturday, Aug. 15.

WHAT HAPPENED

Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the Constellation Trailhead parking lot off Highway 89 near the Phippen Museum in Prescott when a report was called in about a man who exposed himself to a 24-year-old female hiker.

The victim told deputies she was hiking back to her car when a man walked out from the bushes without clothes on. The man was nude except for socks, shoes and a backpack he was wearing, revealing his genitalia to the 24-year-old woman and making no effort to cover himself.

“The suspect told her he was ‘sorry’ and as she walked away, he said she was ‘sexy,’” YCSO spokesperson Dwight D’Evelyn said in a statement.

Concerned for her safety, the woman quickly walked back to her car and called 911.

After YCSO deputies searched the area, they found Luckenbill on the Constellation Trail sitting on some rocks. He was wearing green shorts, no shirt. Luckenbill admitted to exposing himself to the female hiker, adding that he likes to walk around naked for tanning purposes, and claimed he tried to “cover up” when he saw her on the trail.

While on scene, another YCSO deputy arrived and informed the arresting deputy that he had previously been looking for Luckenbill in June on the Constellation Trail for an indecent exposure incident.

In that case, a woman and her mother reported a man jumping out from trees completely naked, then following them on the trail.

“They quickly returned to the parking lot and obtained a license plate from the only other vehicle in the parking lot,” D’Evelyn said. “A record check indicated Luckenbill owned the vehicle.”

Previous attempts to locate him at various addresses and by phone over the next few weeks were unsuccessful.

Luckenbill admitted to the June incident during a follow-up interview by YCSO deputies while in their custody.
