A Phoenix man who violated probation related to an arrest for a Cordes Lakes burglary two years ago was apprehended in the early hours of July 27 and transferred to the Yavapai County jail in Camp Verde, according to a Yavapai Silent Witness release Tuesday.

Matthew Scott Bywater, 20, was located at his last known residence in the 4300 block of 19th Avenue in Phoenix. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Maricopa jail, but due to a no bond statewide extraditable warrant on charges of first-degree burglary and false reporting to law enforcement he was transferred to Yavapai County.

Bywater’s charges stem from the theft of three firearms and $900 cash from a home in the Cactus Wren block in Cordes Lakes on Aug. 3, 2018.

The total loss to the victims was estimated at $2,300.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office made the original arrest.

The Silent Witness program posted a $500 reward for information leading to Bywater’s capture based on a violation of probation related to the burglary arrest during its Catch 22 program in July.
