Roadwork in Brief: Cliff Rose, Summit, McCormick, Beach, Goodwin, Sundog Ranch Road, others

Cliff Rose Water Main

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on a water main replacement project. The project includes installation of new water main and services along Boardwalk Avenue, from Rosser Street to Marvin Gardens Lane, and along Marvin Gardens Lane, from Boardwalk Avenue to Oriental Avenue (cul-de-sac included). Additional work includes asphalt pavement patching and the removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, as needed, along the project corridor.

The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2020.

BOARDWALK AVENUE — With water main successfully installed along Marvin Gardens Lane, crews will begin installing new water main and services along Boardwalk Avenue, from Marvin Gardens Lane to Rosser Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Thursday, Aug. 3-6, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Boardwalk Avenue will be closed to through traffic, between Rosser Street and Marvin Gardens Lane, while this work is underway.

PHASE 2 OF WATER MAIN — The installation of new water main and services along Marvin Gardens Lane, from the Marvin Gardens cul-de-sac to Boardwalk Avenue, is now complete. Crews are testing and activating the newly installed water main throughout the week.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Thursday, Aug. 3-6, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Marvin Gardens Lane will be closed to through traffic while this work is underway.

PARKING AND ACCESS — To minimize conflicts with construction equipment, and expedite completion of the project, the city asks that you avoid on-street parking while construction is underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access throughout the work zones.

Chip Seal Project

The City of Prescott and VSS International, Inc., are working on a chip seal project along selected roadways throughout the Prescott area. The project consists of cleaning the existing street surfaces and applying a new polymerized-rubberized chip seal and seal coat. Additional work includes the restoration of disturbed traffic striping and the replacement of manhole and water box concrete collars.

This project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2020.

The application of chip seal is now complete along sections of East Merritt Avenue, 6th Street, East Moeller Street, North Mount Vernon Street, North Virginia Street, Thumb Butte Road, West Gurley Street, Thompson Drive, Antelope Drive and Bear Drive. Crews will be returning the week of Aug. 10 to apply a seal coat to all the roadways highlighted in the map below.

Summit, McCormick, Beach, and Goodwin

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on a pavement and utility upgrade project along Summit Avenue, Beach Avenue, South McCormick Street, and West Goodwin Street. The project consists of the replacement of various water lines, sewer lines, and storm drain pipe. Additional improvements include the installation of new catch basins, driveway entrances, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and asphalt reconstruction. The project is scheduled to be complete by summer 2020.

Crews have finished raising water valves and manhole covers to the finished road grade; miscellaneous clean-up activities and landscaping will begin throughout the project work zones.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, Aug. 3-7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and flagging operations throughout the work zone.

CONCRETE WORK — Crews will continue working on concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter along West Goodwin Street, South Summit Avenue, and South McCormick Street throughout the week.

Pavement Preservation

The City of Prescott and Cactus Asphalt are working on a pavement preservation project along selected roadways and alleyways throughout the Prescott area. The preservation process consists of removing existing roadways, rebuilding the subgrade with recycled roadway material, and installing new chip seal and PMM or asphalt. Additional work includes adjusting utilities to the finished road grade and restoring any disturbed traffic striping.

The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2020.

In preparation of chip seal operations, crews will continue pulverizing the existing roadway and performing grading operations along the following roads as detailed on the map below: Cyclorama Drive, Atterbury Drive, Luella Lane, Fern Drive, Mabel Lane, Douglas Road, Garland Drive, Moall Drive, Craigs Lane, Highlander Place, White Cloud Lane, Linda Vista Lane, Meadow Ridge Road, Perdido Lane, and Victoria Drive.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Friday, Aug. 3-7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

PREPARATION — Crews will continue performing survey operations, potholing, and lowering utility covers in advance of pavement preservation across the work zones highlighted below.

Mile High Park Water Line Improvements

The City of Prescott and Asphalt Paving & Supply, Inc., are set to begin a water line improvement project next week. The project includes the removal and replacement of the old, undersized water main and services in the areas highlighted below. Additional work includes reconstructing the low-water crossing along Mayo Street and installing new asphalt pavement throughout the project. The project is scheduled to be complete in winter 2020.

Starting Monday, crews will begin removing and replacing the old, undersized water main. This work will begin on Rose Garden Cove, and move forward along Mile High Drive toward Keen Street.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Thursday, Aug. 3-6, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

PARKING, ACCESS, AND UTILITIES — To minimize conflicts with construction equipment, and expedite completion of the project, the city asks that you avoid on-street parking while construction is underway. Personnel will work with businesses and residents to maintain driveway access throughout the work zones. The city and contractor will ensure continuous water service to all properties over the duration of the project, however, brief water shutoffs will be required to perform system tie-ins. Those affected will be notified in advance of any temporary utility interruptions.

Sundog Ranch Road

The City of Prescott and Fann Contracting, Inc., are working on a utility upgrade project. The project includes the installation of an upsized water main line along Sundog Ranch Road, from just north of the intersection of the Yavpe Connector to Prescott Lakes Parkway. Additional work includes pavement replacement, drainage culverts and headwalls, and water main appurtenances. The project is scheduled to be complete in winter 2020.

SURVEY — Crews will be performing survey operations and mobilizing equipment into the work zones throughout the week. This work will be performed in advance of water main installation.

Robinson Drive

The City of Prescott and Capital Improvements, LLC, are working on the second phase of the Robinson Drive Reconstruction Project. The second phase of the project consists of full road removal and replacement of Robinson Drive, from Overstreet Drive to the City limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East. Additional work includes the installation of new storm drain along Hillcrest Lane, replacement of aged water and sewer lines, drainage improvements, and installation of concrete sidewalks, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter as needed along the project corridor. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2020.

In preparation of asphalt paving operations, crews will continue performing grading activities, and preparing the subgrade and base course. This work will occur along Robinson Drive, between Newport Drive and the City limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East.

Please be aware of the following impacts: Monday through Thursday, Aug. 3-6, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Robinson Drive will be closed to through traffic between Overstreet Drive and Newport Drive.

CONCRETE INSTALLATION — The installation of new concrete sidewalk, driveway entrances, and curb and gutter along Robinson Drive, between Newport Drive and the city limit at the intersection of Canyon Drive East, will continue throughout the week.
