Over the past two weeks, Papa John’s in Prescott and Prescott Valley have donated 12 pizzas to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona to feed their group for lunch; 14 pizzas and sides to the Prescott YMCA for its child-watch program; and more than 60 pizzas and sides to the Cornucopia Community Association food bank, which has distributed those pizzas to the Salvation Army and St. Vincent De Paul.

Cornucopia is based in the Verde Valley and serves all of Yavapai County. Its donations are down since so many restaurants are closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Papa John’s has a standing donation to Cornucopia twice a week.

Papa John’s stores in Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Flagstaff have set a goal of donating 3,000 pizzas locally in April and May. They have also connected with Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) in Prescott and Prescott Valley to coordinate donations to both campuses to support the medical community.

Papa John’s recently visited Sunset Point with its pizza trailer and Frannies Frozen Yogurt to donate pizzas, coffee and baked goods to the truck-driving community that stops there for a break or for the night.

The pizza chain is also reaching out to all local law enforcement and first responders to try and coordinate donations to those groups as well.

The effort is expected to ramp up beyond April.

Papa John’s stores maintain a 6-foot barrier between customers and their team members, who offer a no-contact delivery option and a no-contact carryout option for customers. Papa John’s is donating a medium pizza for every no-contact delivery in April and expects to donate about 1,000 pizzas per store.
