Letter: Water usage
Editor: Dr. Beverly of the local water advisory group has written on Prescott water usage. He states the proposed change permitting the use of the ground water allowance for housing outside the city limits will speed growth and will permit tens of thousands of new homes. Mayor Mengarelli wrote an article telling us that our water supply will remain adequate for many years.
As citizens, we are forced to decide whether unpaid but expert residents who have lived here for many years are correct, or whether paid outside consultants who are likely to report what the city wishes to hear are more correct. Patrick Grady of the Yavapai Climate Change Coalition wrote on the reality of climate change being caused by human activities. Climate change is a warning by Mother Nature that humanity must change its ways. Both of these issues have an underlying cause: population growth.
A simple drive around town in the noon hours should convince anyone that there is a lot more greenhouse gas emitting traffic than there used to be. I hope that thinking people will vote for elected officials that put principle over principal.
