Cooking with Diane: Buttermilk Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Nothing goes better with these delicious buttermilk cheese biscuits than a nice pot of homemade soup or stew.

Buttermilk Cheddar Cheese Biscuits


½ cup buttermilk

1 egg (cold)

2 cups flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 ½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ sticks butter (cold)

1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

1 egg beaten


Mix milk & egg, set aside.

In a large bowl mix flour, salt, and baking powder, then cut in butter until it looks like course meal. Stir in cheese, then add milk mixture and blend well. Put dough on a floured surface and roll till ¾ inch thick.

Cut biscuits with 2 inch cookie cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet, brush biscuits with beaten egg, bake at 425 degrees 25 minutes.
