In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, locally owned Fork in the Road restaurants, Murphy’s Restaurant, The Gurley Street Grill and The Office Cantina, is holding its 6th annual Boot Out Cancer event through Oct. 31.
All three restaurants are located in downtown Prescott. Each year they raise funds to help support the BreastCare Center at YRMC (Yavapai Regional Medical Center) by collecting donations and selling a special event product.
This year, each restaurant will be selling Pink Paper Boots, sponsored by Barrett Propane, in any denomination and all proceeds will go to support the Center.
In addition, Gurley Street Grill and The Office Cantina will have a special Boot Out Cancer menu, and when a patron orders from it, $1 from their order will go toward the fundraiser.
Murphy’s Restaurant will be preparing a special pink dessert from its bakery, with proceeds going to the cause.
For the past six years, the restaurants have collectively raised more than $75,000 for the center. The owners of Fork in the Road, Krystal Burge and Mark Peterson, match funds raised up to $5,000. “Our goal this year to raise $20,000. We’re confident we can do it with the help of the public,” stated Director of Restaurant Concepts, Wendy Price.
“The money donated is used in a variety of ways including helping those women and men who may not be able to afford a mammogram or those who need transportation to treatment, so it is a great cause,” Price continued.
The BreastCare Center at YRMC provides comprehensive coordinated breast care in a compassionate supportive environment.
