Members of the Prescott Chapter of the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors (SDPHS) recently presented donation checks to the PHS Marching Band for its trip to Hawaii to participate in Dec. 7 commemorative events this year.

Two SDPHS members recounted personal experiences of the attack on that fateful day in 1941.

The motto of the SDPHS is “Lest we forget” and our goal is to keep the memory of the attack on Pearl Harbor alive. We have lost nearly all of the actual military survivors of the attack now, so it is up to us to carry on for them.

The group is sure that the band members’ week in Hawaii, participating in many of the memorial activities, will be something they will never forget, so they will be carrying out our mission for the rest of their lives.
