Letter: Trump column
So here we are again, being subjected to another John Micek hate fest against our current president. Micek starts out by castigating House Republicans for barging into the secret meetings being held by Adam Schiff to gather evidence against President Trump. The key word here is “secret.” In every impeachment process held in the past, impeachment events were out in the open for the public to view and then determine the credibility of the charges. In this case, there have been no formal charges, no public viewing, and no accountability.
Micek admits that Trump has a solid backing of Republican support made up of “white evangelical Protestants and Fox Network viewers,” the implication being that Trump’s base is made up of religious zealots and white supremacists. This kind of thinking is at least idiotic, if not worse.
Micek seems to have a barrel full of facts at his fingertips that no one else has. A plain reading of the transcript of the call doesn’t show a quid pro quo, but in the eyes of John Micek it is as plain as day.
Framers of the constitution were wary of impeachment becoming a method of ridding the country of a president based on political differences, but this is what seems to be happening now. What Democrats and like-minded partisans like John Micek seem to forget is that “what goes around, comes around” to coin a trite, but true, phrase. Be careful of what you wish for John, or the next impeachment farce could be against a Democrat President. This would really have James Madison spinning in his grave.
