The life of Prescott matriarch Elisabeth Ruffner, who died in March, will be celebrated later this month.
The “Celebrate Elisabeth!” event will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 26, at the Elks Opera House, 117 E. Gurley St. Doors will open at 2:00 p.m.
Organizers say the event will feature story and song remembering Ruffner, who moved to Prescott in 1940 and went on to champion a host of community-improvement efforts.
During her nearly 80 years in Prescott, Ruffner led efforts on historic preservation, open space preservation, the public library, the arts, the hospital auxiliary, and restoration of the Elks Opera House.
“Please join friends and family for an afternoon of story and song to ‘Celebrate Elisabeth!’ on Sunday, May 26 at the Elks Opera House,” organizers said in a notice about the event.
There will be no tickets or reserved seating.
The event also will be livestreamed at the Hassayampa Inn in the Marina Room, 122 E. Gurley St.
