It was standing-room only at the Mayer Library on May 15 for the reopening of the library after its recent expansion, which turned out very well.

Corey Christians, director of the Yavapai County Library System, was the guest speaker and master of ceremonies for the event. American Legion Post 122 in Cordes Lakes presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance to open the ceremony.

Christians gave a brief overview of the Mayer Library, touching on how it started and following through with the current expansion. Meagan Hammond and Kenny Van Keuren spoke about their part in the planning, construction and completing of this project. Other speakers included District 2 Yavapai County Supervisor Tom Thurman, District 3 Supervisor Randy Garrison, and Dan Wuthrich of Mayer Community Church.

The group then moved outside for the ribbon cutting ceremonies, and refreshments were served in the new meeting room.
