PHOENIX — An Arizona man is facing charges after authorities say he accidentally and fatally shot his friend in the face.

Maricopa County court documents say Destin Molina, 20, pulled the trigger on a Mossberg Model 88 shotgun he thought was unloaded on Thursday and shot 20-year-old Omar Davis.

According to the documents, Molina was in the living room of his friend's Phoenix apartment Thursday morning when he picked up the shotgun to make room to put his feet up as he sat down.

Molina reportedly squeezed the trigger as he was holding the shotgun and the weapon fired, hitting Davis in the face, the documents said.

Police say no evidence suggested a fight or argument had occurred before the shooting.
