The Dells are a piece of music worth listening to
When I listen to a piece of music or reread a loved book, I am often amazed at how new it feels, it has touched a new depth, revealed a new meaning, and I can live into this new insight, inhabit eternity in this moment.
The Dells is that text, that piece of music for those of us who are lucky enough to live here. We love every word, every chord, feel the change of key through the seasons, the rhythms of dawn to dusk, all notes in a masterpiece of harmony. It feeds us, puts us in touch with the real, with meaning, with a sense of context.
That’s what the Dells is for all of Prescott, an oasis which consciously or unconsciously restores a sense of balance. People are strengthened by the presence of rocks, lakes, expansive views, even the sight of a camouflaged tiny horny toad encourages them to be present, to live into a natural participated wholeness.
This is how the heart and soul of the community is fed. We struggle daily with life’s stressful problems yet nature with its peaceful nurturance offers so many solutions. The community must ensure that this vital remedy of beauty is preserved for the good of all.
