Ironwood eliminates Badgers in state play-in round

GLENDALE — The 17th-seeded Prescott boys volleyball team’s postseason ended abruptly, as the Badgers were swept by No. 16 Ironwood, 3-0, in a 5A state tournament play-in match Thursday, May 2, at the Eagles’ gym.

The Eagles won 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.

Ironwood has qualified for the 16-team 4A state tournament, which begins with the first round at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the higher seeded teams’ courts.

Prescott ended its 2019 season with a 12-6 record in power-point matches. Ironwood, which has won five straight matches, improved to 12-6.

UP NEXT

Ironwood will learn its first-round opponent in the 5A state tournament today, May 3, and it will travel to its opponent’s gym on Saturday.
