Free tax prep service available locally from volunteers

IRS certified tax preparers with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, partnering with Catholic Charities, are providing free federal and state tax preparation and e-file service at two locations:

• Prescott Valley Library Crystal Room, Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and,

• Catholic Charities office, 434 W. Gurley St., Prescott, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Conference focuses on dementia care and research

The Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter will present its Northern Arizona Annual Alzheimer’s Education Conference from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Adult Center of Prescott.

The conference will focus on critical conversations to help maintain and improve quality of life for those with dementia.

Session topics will include: ways to preserve the stories of those facing memory loss; tips for challenging conversations about diagnosis, driving and legal plans; and advance care planning conversations.

Learn about Orders of Protection, landlord disputes

Legal Talk on Tuesday, March 26, is an informational session for those interested in the process of filing for an Order of Protection.

On Wednesday, learn about the process and laws surrounding landlord tenant disputes.

Both are informational sessions from noon to 12:45 p.m., at the Yavapai County Superior Court, Prescott Law Library, 120 S. Cortez St., Room 112, in Prescott.

Information provided will be general in nature and specific events or circumstances will not be discussed.

These events will be provided via live-stream from the Coconino County Superior Court to the Yavapai County Superior Court’s Law Library and are free. For people 18 and older.
