Obituary: Marion Baker
Marion Baker, born June 10, 1925, died peacefully in Prescott, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family on March 19, 2019.
Marion was born and raised in Chicago. She majored in journalism at Drake University and worked in that field for a few years before her marriage to John Baker in 1949. They have three children (James, Joel and Mindy); five grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter. Marion devoted her talents and energy to raising her children and volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout den mother, and president of the PTA.
She and her husband moved to Prescott in February 1982 and she continued her volunteer work here for several organizations, though she mainly focused her efforts on work for the Prescott Library, where she edited the first Roundup newsletter, was Volunteer of the Year in 1990, served on the Friends of the Library board, and worked for many years on the Friends’ booksale.
She was an avid photographer and loved camping, hiking and fishing.
In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Prescott Library or the Good Samaritan Society — Marley House.
