Letter: Where will money go?

Editor:

This coming May, we in Chino Valley will get an opportunity to vote on whether or not we want to raise our property taxes to provide money to fix our roads. Additionally, the Chino Valley voters were informed that on the same ballot we will vote to authorize our town to buy a water company, if one becomes available.

I am still opposed to the additional tax and will not be voting for it even though our roads do need additional care.

As we have seen on the national scale, President Trump declared a national emergency and re-purposed money; will the mayor of our town be able to do the same with our tax money? I am of the opinion that once money is taxed by Chino Valley, it will be spent however the town feels best.

Why can’t Chino Valley bring in additional businesses to pay taxes? It seems that they are trying to put the “cart before the horse.”
