PRESCOTT VALLEY — March Madness is finally here!
The Daily Courier sports department is hosting a "Battle of the Brackets" contest this year and those interested have until 9 a.m. Arizona time Thursday morning to make their picks for the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

The Courier will have six entrants this season, with news/sports editor Brian M. Bergner Jr., senior news editor Tim Wiederaenders and sports reporter Doug Cook returning this year, while community editor Douglas Graham, photo editor Les Stukenberg and Northern Arizona Suns coach Bret Burchard are newcomers.
And this year, you'll get to see our up-to-date standings and compete against the Courier's best tournament pickers!
The Courier's defending champion is Wiederaenders, who finished 35-27 and scored 56 points for the victory, squeaking past Bergner (55 points, 34-28) for the title.
This year's point system will work differently to coincide with the online entry contest. It is as follows:
1st Round: 2 points
2nd Round: 4 points
Sweet 16: 8 points
Elite 8: 16 points
Final Four: 32 points
Championship: 64 points
