Spring Valley Library celebrates anniversary
There were tulips, balloons and cupcakes galore as the Spring Valley Library prepared for its first anniversary celebration. Virginia Tallent and Ted Johnson displayed the cupcakes under a canopy of balloons to open the celebration.
But this wasn’t the only thing happening at the little library. They were in the finals of the chess tournament. Chris Bennett managed to hold on to take first place, winning a $50 Mastercard, with Chris Blasco running in second with a $25 Mastercard.
The finals for Cordes Lakes Library chess tournament will be March 23. The winner will pit strategy skills against Spring Valley Library’s winner, Chris Bennett. It is not yet decided if it will be a one-on-one one game event, or possibly a best-of-three with the winners going to each library for a match. But all of the players are waiting for the decision so they can cheer for their library’s winner.
Meanwhile, the anniversary party was going full scale with cupcakes disappearing rapidly.
