Obituary: Helen J. Catlin

We were blessed to learn so many valuable lessons from Helen J. Catlin during her 86 years! “Ajax kills ants and polishes silver”, “Are your arms tired? (if we put our arms on the table to eat)”, “Make sure you always have a hard candy in your purse”, “Shake hands and look in their eyes when you talk”, “If invited to someone’s house, NEVER ask what’s for dinner”, “Clean like the Queen of England is coming”, “Always write thank-you notes”, “Never leave the house with the washing machine going”. “Unplug EVERYTHING in a storm!”.

Over Helen’s lifetime, she always greeted and made time for you. There was always a place to go, a fresh cup of coffee, a bed to sleep and food on the table. She had an infectious laugh, especially with the movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s” or “The Money Pit.” She took great pride in her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She was their first teacher, their hero and cheerleader.

She is survived by her children, Jill and Jennie (PJ, Tyler, Jakob and Aiden); sister-in-law, Johanne; nieces and nephews, along with numerous friends, too many to list but not forgotten.

Helen will be reunited with her husband and daughter, along with family and friends who were patiently waiting for her. Political debates, countless games of Mexican Train and Farkle, I’m sure have already resumed! There will be a service Friday, March 15, 2019, 2 p.m., at the VA Chapel in Prescott, Arizona.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Prescott Area Women’s Shelter, PASS (Prescott Area Shelter Service), 336 N. Rush St. Prescott, AZ 86301.
