Letter: Kudos for promotion of zoo event

Editor:

Many kudos to Lew Rees, the staff at Heritage Park Zoo and Tim Wiederanders for promoting such a wonderful event recognizing Heritage Park as a wonderful place for rescued, injured, and unable to survive animals.

I was at the zoo today and was very warmly greeted by Lew and several zoo staff members and the zookeeper. It was very interesting to learn about all of the professional care these animals receive and how much work is involved in maintaining the zoo at such a high level of competence. The costs of just feeding more than 200 animals is very expensive. That does not include veterinary care, maintenance of the beautiful grounds and individual habitats, and a payroll for all of the wonderful caregivers.

It was very rewarding to make a monetary donation to such a local and beautiful habitat for animals who would otherwise be dead or in considerable distress.

As I discovered, many Prescott citizens have never been to our zoo. There are ample facilities for individuals, groups, children and those with physical limitations. I encourage all to visit or revisit these grounds and experience the rewards of “being up close and personal” with a variety of wonderful animals.

Again, thanks to all who have helped in making our Heritage Park Zoo a number one facility.

Respectfully,

Robert W. Brooks
