Obituary: Theresa Magdalen Lucek
Theresa Magdalen Lucek, 62, of San Pedro, California, formerly of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Dekalb, Illinois, passed away Feb. 13, 2019, in Duarte, California, after a valiant battle with polycythemia vera and myelofibrosis, surrounded by her loved ones.
A native of Rockford, Illinois, Theresa attended Elk Grove High School before earning her B.A. in Mathematics and Psychology from Northern Illinois University and her M.B.A. from North Central College.
Theresa enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in IT Project Management, most recently at Maesrk, formerly Ideal Industries in DeKalb, Illinois. She had a passion for raw foods and was the GM for the 2008 Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona, Arizona. Theresa inspired many people to improve their lives through healthy eating.
Beloved wife of Greg Garmon, devoted mother of Jessica Dermody and Jeremiah and Douglas MacClure, caring grandmother of Shane and Brendan Dermody. Fond stepmother of Ally and Katie Garmon. Survived by eight siblings. Aunt, cousin, and friend of many.
Preceded in death by parents Walter Lucek and Magdalen Kazunas Lucek. Theresa loved everything outdoors, including hiking along the ocean bluff, spending time with her loved ones, and dancing. She was the light in the lives of all of her loved ones and will be dearly missed.
Memorial service Saturday, June 29, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., (remembrances begin 12 noon), Belvedere Banquets, 1170 W. Devon Ave., Elk Grove Village, Illinois, 60007.
