James Edelstein named interim chief for Prescott Valley Police
Edelstein to serve in position until town hires new chief
Effective immediately, Prescott Valley Deputy Police Chief James Edelstein will serve in an interim capacity as chief of police. Town Manager Larry Tarkowski made the announcement Monday, June 24.
The Town already has begun the search process by securing the services of Peckham and McKenney. The vacancy is due to the retirement of former Chief Bryan Jarrell. A selection could occur early this fall, the news release stated.
Edelstein has served the Town of Prescott Valley for more than 20 years as a law enforcement officer in various capacities including a previous stint as interim chief prior to the hiring of Jarrell.
“We are fortunate to have a team of very dedicated professionals in an outstanding department that has been applauded for their success by being named the safest community in Northern Arizona,” Tarkowski said. “We look forward to the next chapter in the evolution of this great department.”
Edelstein was unavailable for comment.
