Obituary: Bernice W. Cox Pinson
Bernice W. Cox Pinson, 78, passed away after a long illness on July 2, 2019.
She was born on March 2, 1941, in Tishimongo, Mississippi.
She married Carroll Pinson, her Marine veteran sweetheart, in 1962 upon completion of his tour in Okinawa.
Carroll and Bernice wanted to live a rural country lifestyle, and moved to New River in 1971.
Bernice was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting and sewing. Later, she worked at an elementary school library, and held a job with a waste management company, while doing office work to support her husband’s electrical contracting business. In 1998, Bernice and Carroll relocated to Prescott, Arizona, to build their dream retirement home, and enjoy time together with their four beloved grandchildren. They attended Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott for many years.
Bernice is survived by her children, Neal (Tamra) Pinson and Leslie (Koen) Pinson Bosman; grandchildren Cody and Mykayla Pinson, and Melanie and Thijs Bosman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death earlier this year by her devoted husband of 56 years, Carroll. Bernice was also predeceased by her three sisters, Jean P. Stilson (AZ), Lurline D. Choquet (ME), and Mary H. Gundlach (AZ).
A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Humboldt Bible Church at 2500 Old Black Canyon Hwy in Humboldt, Arizona, with a BBQ reception to follow. Bernice will be reunited with Carroll at the Prescott National Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
