U.S. VETS culinary class graduation
Guests and staff at U.S. VETS enjoyed a variety of Mexican dishes that was prepared by the outgoing culinary class that graduated and showcased their (his) skills on Jan. 11.The class started with four students but due to three getting jobs, Daniel Ferguson was the only student that completed the entire 13-week program.
The program is designed to help veteran residents gain employment in food service by teaching life skills, basic prepping and cooking skills. Upon completion of the class, students receive personalized chef jackets, chef knife sets and a certificate of completion. Daniel was an excellent student and received a perfect attendance award for never missing any classes.
Students in the culinary class not only learn the basics of cooking to cook for themselves and to obtain employment, but learn how to serve through the catering service at U.S.VETS and give back to the community through the master chef event and cooking and serving meals at area businesses.
