Mile High grapplers take 1st at Northern Arizona Finals

CHINO VALLEY — The Prescott Mile High Middle School wrestling team won the Northern Arizona Finals hosted by Heritage Middle School in Chino Valley on Jan. 11.

Chino Valley High School varsity coaches Kevin Giese and Allen Foster, and their Cougars wrestlers, played host to the annual event. Eight teams from northern Arizona participated.

Mile High coach Phillip Eby and assistant coach Brant Smith mentored the following placers:

First place – Gentry Smith at 133 pounds; Cody Hanna at 125.

Second place – Issac Briseno at 104 pounds; Pierce Cate-Bacerra at 142; Adam Lloyd at 83; Lube Raber at 111; Zane Smith at 78.

Third place – Brody Hanna at 78 pounds; Jackson Maiorana at 118; Jacob Tobin at 125.

The boys are currently preparing for the Junior High State Tournament, which will take place Jan. 25 and 26 at Prescott Valley Event Center.
