“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.” - 1 Peter 1:3-4
Robert “Bob” Marshall Cliff, 90 years old, passed away Saturday evening (Jan. 12, 2019) in his long-time Prescott home with his beloved wife of 31 years, Naomi (Mann), at his side. He was a devoted Christian and has gone home to his reward in heaven. Bob was born in Owosso, Michigan, March 30, 1928, to Marshall and Vena (McLean) Cliff. He grew up helping on the family farm, the oldest of five siblings. He was a skilled mechanic and put this skill to use while serving as a Technical Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War, and working for the Chrysler Corporation for 15 years. Bob moved with his wife and children to Arizona in 1961 and worked at the General Motors Proving Ground in Mesa, Arizona, until his retirement, at which time he relocated to Prescott.
Over his many years, Bob delighted in witnessing for his Lord, teaching Sunday School, and leading congregational singing and Bible studies. He was a tireless worker, always busy around his home, yard and vehicles, and spent many years helping maintain equipment for Camp Pinerock, the Nazarene District Center in Prescott.
Bob is survived by his current wife, Naomi Jean (Mann) and her son, Scott (Stephanie) Walter, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as by his daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” Jean (Don) Devermann; his brother, William “Bill” Cliff; a sister, Beverly Preston; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Those who preceded him in death include his wife, Ruth (Strachan); and stepson, Scott Krook, whose first wife, Nancy (Bollinger) Wood, survives along with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m., at Prescott Church of the Nazarene, 2110 Willow Creek Road, Prescott. The family suggests donations to Prescott Church of the Nazarene in lieu of flowers.
