PV Library offers D&D, Coding for Girls, new book club in 2019
New year, new programs for teens
Prescott Valley Public Library announces three new programs for teenagers that already have started or will begin in January.
The first is a time set up to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons. For teens ages 12-18, D&D will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons beginning Jan. 23.
The second, Girls Who Code Club, offers an opportunity for two groups – younger girls (third to fifth grade) and teenage girls (sixth to twelfth grade) – to learn how to code. No experience required. The groups will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. every Monday starting Jan. 28.
A different type of book club is the third new program called Choose Your Own Book Club. Enjoy the pleasures of book discussion without attending any meetings. This club already is taking place.
It works this way: stop by the Teen office and choose a book from a designated selection. Teens pick the story they want to read and have the freedom to make notes in the margins, circle, highlight, and reflect on what they and others have to say about the book. When the teens return their books, they can choose another.
