New Coffee Shop
A former New York City math teacher has opened his spin on the classic espresso bar in Prescott.
Called The Espresso Barn, the shop offers coffee, espresso, tea, specialty drinks and baked goods.
Owner Ryan Glass moved to Prescott from the Bronx two years ago and bought the building at 1301 E. Gurley St. soon after with a vision in mind.
“We hope to be the best espresso bar in town,” Glass said.
The space doubles as a small consignment shop, where rustic items such as decorated gas tanks and local artwork are for sale.
“We also put peoples’ old vintage antiques online for them,” Glass said.
In separate rooms behind the bar, Glass has begun to offer math tutoring for kids and cellphone tutoring for seniors as well.
For more information, call the shop at 928-288-2052.
New Bakery Opens in Gateway Mall
The Prescott Gateway Mall has a new addition, Lizarraga Bakery Panderia.
The bakery opened this past week. It’s a mostly Mexican-style bakery.
Head baker and owner Raul Tejeda says all of his food is freshly made, but not too sweet.
“Most of my pastries are between sweet and non-sweet,” Tejeda said.
Tejeda added that he does not use lard and keeps diabetics in mind while making his food.
Having just opened the business, Tejeda said he is still testing to see what products sell best and what new food can be added. The bakery owner said his store will add coffee soon.
The bakery’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
PV Denny’s under renovation
No more Grand Slams for a bit. The Denny’s in Prescott Valley is temporarily closed for renovations.
The project began on Sunday, Jan. 6, said Kenny Reno, superintendent of the renovations. As part of Denny’s corporate policy, each restaurant location must be renovated every seven years.
Don’t worry, the Grand Slams will return soon. Reno expects the Prescott Valley Denny’s will open again Tuesday, Jan. 15.
